New Books – 3/5/14

We have added the a new series by Norah McClintock entitled A Mike & Riel Mystery. Fans of mysteries should dive in and check out this series. Another mystery to check is The Edge of Nowhere by Elizabeth George that has a hint of paranormal activity in the plot.

The Selection is the first in the series that follows America Singer as she competes against 34 other teenage girls for the crown and a marriage to Prince Maxon. While is described as “The Bachelor” meets The Hunger Games, the ladies do NOT fight to the death for the affections of a man. Fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series should check her latest paranormal romance novel entitled White Hot Kiss.

Grandmaster  by David Klass stands out from this new batch of books because it not only delves into the game of chess but it explore father/son relationships. David Baldacci normally writes adult fiction, check out his first foray in YA fiction with The Finisher and tell me what you think. Threatened follows Luc, an orphan, while he studies chimpanzees in a dangerous jungle with a mysterious man named Prof.

Last week we added a third book in the Merlin’s Immortal series and today we will add the first two, The Orphan King and Fortress of Mist. Those interested in paranormal romance should check out Living Violet.

Username: Bladen by J.V. Carr has the main character playing a real-life game with dire consequences. This week we are adding a Shadowhunters and Downworlders: A Mortal Instruments Reader by Cassandra Clare to the collection. This book includes entries from other YA authors about the world of the Mortal Instruments.

The Big Fix by Nathan Sacks and A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller are two historical fiction titles. Rumor Central by Reshonda Tate Billingsley and The Girl of His Dreams by Amir Abrams are two new urban fiction titles.
